About me

My name is Nikkii Johnson, and Tranquilla Calm is born from my own mental health journey. Since school, I have struggled with panic attacks, anxiety, and PTSD. These challenges made even simple tasks difficult. My first panic attack occurred in junior school, and without the internet, understanding what was happening was tough. These attacks continued into senior school, affecting my academics and social life.

After school, the panic attacks disappeared for a while, allowing me to travel and work abroad. However, in my late twenties, they returned severely during a flight to Spain. This marked the start of my adult mental health journey, involving therapies like CBT, EMDR, and alternative treatments such as reiki and mindfulness. Initially, finding information and guidance was hard, but over time, I learned to manage my symptoms.

Five years ago, I decided to study Psychology and Counselling to help others as I had been helped. I graduated with an Upper Second-Class degree while running my own business and maintaining my mental health. Tranquilla Calm is the result of my experiences and learning, aimed at supporting those on their mental health journey.

Our first project is a Mental Health Calendar, created with others who have similar experiences. It focuses on different treatments and therapies, offering activities and information each month. The calendar links to an Instagram community for additional support. The “Your Year” calendar provides tools, resources, and information in one place, making the overwhelming mental health information more accessible.

My journey is ongoing, and I embrace the new me, equipped with the knowledge and tools to live life fully. I’m ready to share my experiences and help as many people as I can.
